The Bristol Corn & Feed Trade Association (BCFTA) hosted its highly anticipated annual Merchants Lunch and Annual General Meeting (AGM) this year at the prestigious Haynes Motor Museum. The event marked Eric Thomas formally stepping down as President, paving the way for the newly elected James Reeson to take the helm.
The attendees were given updates on the AIC election priorities by AIC Chief Executive, Robert Sheasby as well as the most recent information on the AIC Feed Schemes for 2024 and beyond from Simon Williams the Technical Manager for AIC. To conclude the industry updates section of the event, the Association was delighted to welcome Mel Squires, Regional Director for NFU South West who gave an excellent presentation on 'Sustainable, resilient agri-food supply chains - how we can, and must, achieve them'. With over 70 members and guests in attendance, the luncheon was a celebration of the BCFTA community. The Haynes Motor Museum, famed for its extensive collection of vintage and classic automobiles, provided a unique and engaging setting for the day's events. Attendees had the opportunity to explore the museum's exhibits, adding a touch of charm to the occasion.
Eric Thomas, who has served as President for the past year, was thanked for his dedicated service and leadership. Under his stewardship, the BCFTA saw significant growth and numerous successful initiatives that have strengthened the association's impact within the industry. In his farewell comments, Eric expressed gratitude for the support he received from members and colleagues, highlighting the collaborative spirit that has been the cornerstone of his tenure.
The AGM also featured the formal election of James Reeson as the new President. Reeson, who has been an active member of the BCFTA for many years, brings a wealth of experience and a new perspective to the role.
The event concluded with a lunch, allowing members to connect, exchange ideas, and discuss the latest trends and challenges sector. The positive energy and optimism shared by attendees underscored the BCFTA's strong sense of community and its commitment to fostering a dynamic and supportive environment for all its members.
